Inside Ronnie O'Sullivan and Laila Rouass' love as pair marry despite 'hurt and anger'

Ronnie O'Sullivan and partner Laila Rouass married in East London

It has been a busy time for Ronnie O'Sullivan away from the table. The record-breaking snooker star tied the knot for the first time, marrying actress Laila Rouass. It comes just months after the pair split, which had brought an end to their 13-year relationship.

However, after reconciling earlier this year, the two lovers put their differences behind them and got married in a low-key ceremony at St George's Town Hall in Shadwell, East London. And now, according to The Sun, are looking to sell their Essex-based home and move to Dubai.

Speaking to the outlet, a source close to the pair explained: “They have been back together for a while. The time apart gave them time to think about what they want and what is important to them — and that is being together. Ronnie is moving to the Middle East and Laila is going with him.”

It’s been a rocky road to this stage though, with Rouass having previously opened up about the “hurt and anger” caused by the pair’s split. Commenting after the collapse of their long-term relationship last year, the EastEnders actress said: "Break ups can strip you down to your essence

“I got through mine by using pain as fuel to take control because no matter what, we will lose parts of ourselves in relationships. It's normal, don't beat yourself up. I've gone through various emotions... hurt, pain, anger but what I've realised about anger is that it's bottomless. It can go on and on and once you're in that black hole... it's very hard to drag yourself back out.”

O'Sullivan and Rouass first crossed paths in 2012 when the latter was househunting and came across the snooker star's house. Chancing his arm, Ronnie is said to have contacted the estate agent, who happened to be a friend of hers, asking to organise a date with his future lover.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Laila recalled: “It happened by accident. I was shown around Ronnie's house by his father, who told his son about meeting me. Ronnie called the estate agent, a friend of mine, and asked me out via her.”

However, now married, Rouass opened up about the ceremony in an emotional Instagram post, Rouass explained the personal decision to get married in the East End of London. She said: “Ok...so it wasn’t Venice…that was fully booked. It was Cable Street in Shadwell where I was born and where my heart belongs. It’s where in 1936, local activists along with the Jewish community gathered together to demonstrate against the planned fascist BUF marchers and it’s on their shoulders we stood today and said our 'I do’s'."
