With the 2025 World Snooker Championships taking place in Sheffied, we’re taking a look at the titans of the baize.
Snooker players are amongst the wealthiest sportspeople on the planet - a single World Championship title earns you a hefty £500,000.
It’s a sport which has seen prize money soar in recent years thanks to television and sponsorship deals, with increasing interest in China and the Far East bolstering the tournament coffers even more.
Last year alone three players - Judd Trump, Kyren Wilson and Ronnie O’Sullivan - took home more than a million pounds in prize money.
We’ve taken a look at the players who have won the most prize money in the history of the sport.
It’s worth noting that their true net worth is probably at least 50 per cent more due to sponsorship, exhibition games, advertising deals, investments and media work.
Having said that, here are the 17 richest snooker players, as at the start of the World Snooker Championship 2025.
1. Ronnie O'Sullivan
Seven times World Champion Ronnie O'Sullivan (he's equal with Stephen Hendry for titles win) holds most of the records in snooker - including the most prize money. He's earned a remarkable £14,625,634 since turning pro at the age of 16 in 1992.
2. John Higgins
Wizard of Wishaw John Higgins may not be able to match fellow-Scot Stephen Hendry when it comes to tournament wins, but his longevity and consistancy means he's the second highest earning snooker player of all time. He's banked £10,462,519 over a glittering career - including two recent wins at the World Open and the Tour Championship.
3. Judd Trump
With 30 ranking titles and five Triple Crown titles on his CV, Judd Trump has banked £9,176,854 in his career. Last year saw the world number one overtake Stephen Hendry to take the third spot on the all-time list.
4. Stephen Hendry
Scotland's Stephen Hendry still jointly holds the record for most world titles with Ronnie O'Sullivan. His seven world crowns helped him amass prize money of £8,804,081 before retiring from the sport.
5. Mark Selby
Four-time World Champion Mark Selby recently entered the top five all-time earners in snooker for the first time. Englishman Selby has won £8,485,679 in his career to date and still has plenty of winning years to come.
6. Mark Williams
Nicknamed the Welsh Potting Machine, Mark Williams has earned £8,298,854 since turning professional in 1992 in a career that has seen him lift the world title on three occasions.
7. Neil Robertson
The first non-Brititsh player to make this list, Australia's Neil Robertson is also the only player from outside the UK to have completed snooker's Triple Crown. That's helped him to earnings of £7,265,745.
8. Shaun Murphy
Since turning professional in 1998 Shaun Murphy has won prize money totalling £6,404,212. Nicknamed 'The Magician', he was world champion in 2005 - when he became only the third qualifier to win the title after Alex Higgins and Terry Griffiths.
9. Steve Davis
Dominating the sport in the 1980s, Steve Davis reached eight World Snooker Championship finals in nine years, won six world titles, and held the world number one ranking for seven consecutive seasons. His career earnings were £5,623,536.
10. Mark Allen
Two-time World Championship semi-finalist Mark Allen just needs that competition to complete the Triple Crown, having won the 2018 Masters and the 2022 UK Championship. Along the way the Northern Irishman has banked £5,570,540.
