Ronnie O'Sullivan reveals true thoughts on Kyren Wilson with surprise admission about snooker world champion

He might be considered the greatest player of all time by man, but Ronnie O'Sullivan envies a Kyren Wilson skill

Ronnie O'Sullivan admires one aspect of Kyren Wilson's play and would love to be able to emulate it

World champion Kyren Wilson has earned snooker's ultimate compliment, with Ronnie O'Sullivan saying he'd love to replicate the Warrior's cue action.

Wilson will start the defence of his world title at the Crucible later this month, with doubts still circling over whether or not O'Sullivan will compete - after snapping his cue during the Championship League in January.

To become the first man to beat snooker's Crucible Curse his cue action will need to be spot on, with the Rocket convinced that it's the best in the business.

O'Sullivan was asked by Ally McCoist on TNT Sport's Snooker Break which quality from a rival he'd love to bring into his own game, and had no hesitation in his answer.

The 49-year-old said: "Of the current players at the moment, give me Kyren Wilson’s arrow straight cue action. It’s just nine out of 10 every day, so you can basically just play and pot balls.

"People like me and Selby find it and lose it, that can create anxiety. With someone like Kyren Wilson, or Neil Robertson, they have just an amazing technique day in day out.

"You have that parked up and can just go and play. That’s a really nice place to be as a snooker player. It’s such a hard game."

Kyren Wilson's cue action has caught Ronnie's eye

O'Sullivan topped a TNT Sport poll of the greatest snooker players of all time, but was keen to play down the achievement - adding: "I have what Jimmy (White) has, which is a lot of fans. Jimmy was a people’s champion and even if I hadn’t won as many titles then it would’ve still got the vote because a lot of people want to support Ronnie.

"If you asked a proper snooker purist who they thought was the greatest then the poll might’ve got a lot closer. Fans vote with their heart.

"Sometimes you watch other players and think ‘I wish that I could do what he does,’ I wish I could do something from everybody else’s game."

O'Sullivan was well-clear of second placed Stephen Hendry in the poll, with fellow pundit Jimmy White saying that the King of the Crucible had a trait he always envied.

White, who lost four World Championship finals to Hendry said: "I’d have liked to have Hendry’s focus, whatever the situation is he had a pre-shot routine.

"If he was not playing too good then he’d have the pre-shot routine, whether it was the most important shot or the simplest, that kept him focused. That’s what I’m missing."
